In July 2010, a citizen group formed to discuss how citizen involvement was being carried out in the neighborhoods throughout Tualatin. This group became the Citizen Involvement Organization (CIO) Ad Hoc Committee. This group of residents has been working together with input from their neighbors to develop a program to organize CIO’s in Tualatin.
They developed a proposal which was presented to the City Council in April 2011, and after much discussion and input from the Council and the community, the City Council adopted code language in July 2011, which would allow for the development of CIO’s.
The Ad Hoc Committee transitioned to an Organizing Committee, and has been diligently working to help residents and businesses get involved in their CIO’s to foster a strong sense of community and belonging.
